Kanopy online film service now available

Library members can now access Kanopy – a new streaming video service and watch a variety of popular films and documentaries via a computer or by using apps on a tablet or smart phone.

The collection includes titles like Girl AsleepJasper Jones, Perfect Strangers and Salt and Fire.

Kanopy’s main homepage will continually change and update with new selections. It is currently highlighting films from the Sundance Film Festival.

Library members will receive 6 play credits each month. Each film uses 1 play credit. At the start of each month your play credits will be replenished. Customers can also rate and leave comments on the films.

Simply use the Kanopy icon on the library’s website to get started. You will need to create an account by logging in with an email address, Facebook or Google account and then enter your Mid North Coast Library card number. For more information please call any of our branches.

Haiku review competition

Can you do a haiku review?

Share a review of what you've been reading in haiku and be in the running for a $20 Book Face voucher. 

So... what is the structure of a haiku poem?                                  3 lines and 17 syllables, each line with a set number of syllables

Line 1 - 5 syllables - The darkness darkened.

Line 2 - 7 syllables - Oh, the horror, the horror.

Line 3 - 5 syllables - It was horrible.

Our inspiration (Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad) taken from One Hundred Great Books in Haiku by David Baker.

Email entries to portlib@mnclibrary.org.au or drop in to a branch. Entries close 20th of the month. Winning entry will be announced and shared in Library's monthly eNewsletter.

He is the author of 22 highly acclaimed books that perfectly transmit the ancient  wisdom of Buddhism to our modern world. He has also founded of 1200 Kadampa Buddhist centres and groups throughout the world.
